Event Details
The QPR (Question, Persuade, Refer) mission is to reduce suicidal behaviors and save lives by providing innovative, practical and proven suicide prevention training.
In this presentation, you will learn the warnings signs of suicide and a 3 step approach to preventing suicides. Everyone is familiar with CPR, a life-saving skill that anyone can learn. A friend or family member or stranger can perform CPR and get a person breathing again until a medical professional arrives. The name, QPR, was chosen so people would see the similarities in the 2 skills. We believe that quality education empowers all people, regardless of their background, to make a positive difference in the lives of those around us.
Q is for Question; it takes courage to ask if someone is having suicidal thoughts. P is for Persuade; it requires listening in order to persuade someone to get help. R is for Refer; it requires knowledge of local resources. This 2-hour class will teach you how to use QPR and provide you with local resources. QPR is approved to meet SD’s state mandate requiring suicide prevention for educators.
Training is free to the public. $10 fee if certification is required. REGISTER ONLINE NOW!
